Shiksha Bharat
Privacy Policy
Some business details on this page are still to be confirmed (highlighted).
Shiksha Bharat is a science and mathematics learning app for students in Classes 6 to 12, provided by [Legal entity name, e.g. XYZ Learning Private Limited], [Registered address, city, state, PIN code, India] (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use the app or this website, why, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You can use every lesson, quiz and note without an account. That data stays on your device.
- If you create an account, we store what is needed to sync your learning: your name, username, email, phone number, the month and year you were born (to apply age rules), your progress, quiz answers and notes.
- We do not show ads, sell data, track you across other apps, or share your data with advertisers.
- You can download or permanently delete your account and data at any time, in the app or at [https://api.yourdomain.in/account/delete].
What we collect
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email address | You create an account (email code, email and password, or Apple / Google sign-in when available) | Sign-in, sign-in codes and account emails (confirmation, deletion) |
| Phone number | You sign in with a phone code, or add and verify your number | Sending the SMS code (through Google’s Firebase Authentication) and signing you in with it |
| Username | You create an account with email | Logging in with your username |
| Birth month and year | Before an account can be created | Applying age rules (minimum account age, parental consent) |
| Class and preferred subjects (optional) | You choose them | Personalising the app |
| Lesson progress, quiz answers and scores, notes, last lesson opened | You learn while signed in | Syncing your learning across your devices |
| Plan and payment records (amount, date, method such as UPI or card, Razorpay payment reference) | You buy Shiksha Bharat Plus (Android app or website) | Giving you Plus, renewals, refunds and accounting. Card numbers, UPI IDs and bank details are entered with Razorpay and never reach us |
| IP address, device type (request logs) | Each request to our servers | Security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting |
We don’t collect contacts, location, photos, microphone or camera data, or advertising identifiers. Daily-goal reminders are notifications scheduled on your own phone; nothing about them is sent to us.
This website
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies and does not track you. It stores two small preferences in your browser’s local storage — your chosen light or dark theme and the class you last picked — so the page remembers them. They never leave your browser, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings.
Who at Shiksha Bharat can see your data
Staff with an admin role can see account details (name, username, email, phone number, sign-up date, class, sign-in methods) and overall usage totals, to support learners and prevent abuse. A small number of senior staff can also see an account’s learning activity (sign-ins with device type, lessons, quizzes and chapters completed, and that a note was saved — never its text), its plans and payments, and can give a plan without payment. Staff never see passwords, and every change staff make to an account is recorded in an internal audit log.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept until you delete your account. Deletion is immediate and permanent. Server logs containing IP addresses are kept for a limited period and backups expire on a rolling schedule; payment records are kept for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, with your identity removed from them when you delete your account.
Children and parents
Shiksha Bharat is made for students in Classes 6 to 12. We ask for a birth month and year before an account can be created. Learners younger than 13 can use the app without an account, so no personal information leaves their device. Buying Plus for a learner under 18 needs a parent or guardian to confirm that they are paying. Parents and guardians can write to [support@yourdomain.in] to review or delete a child’s data.
Who processes data for us
Each of these processes data only to provide its service to us:
- Our hosting and database providers, which run our servers.
- Razorpay, for Plus payments: it receives your name, email address and phone number for checkout, handles your payment details, and keeps payment records as Indian law requires.
- Google Firebase Authentication, for phone sign-in (and Google or Apple sign-in when offered): it keeps your phone number or email and a sign-in identifier until you delete your account.
- Our email provider, which sends sign-in codes and account emails.
Your rights
- Access and download your data: in the app, Profile → Download my data.
- Correct your details: in the app, Profile.
- Delete your account and data: in the app, Profile → Settings → Delete account, or on the web at [https://api.yourdomain.in/account/delete].
- Withdraw consent and raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer (below), and complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Sign-in sessions are stored in your device’s secure keychain or keystore, and third-party sign-in tokens are encrypted at rest. Access to production data is limited to the staff roles described above and is audited.
Grievance Officer
We acknowledge grievances within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days.
Changes to this policy
We will tell you in the app before material changes take effect, and update the effective date at the top of this page.
